Square-Enix has announced the latest entry in the decade-spanning Dragon Quest series is in development.
During their Dragon Quest presentation, Dragon Quest XII: The Flames of Fate was unveiled via a trailer which appears to reveal a much darker tone than previous entries in the series. with the titles, logo scored into blackened earth by streams of fire.
Slated for a simultaneous worldwide release, a first for the series. Square Enix has described DQXII as ‘Dragon Quest for adults.’, promising a darker tone and a revamped battle system.
No release date or platforms were unveiled, but it would be safe to assume the game will eventually make its way to current-gen platforms (Series S/X, PS5, and PC) and maybe the Switch (or its successor).
