Jaret Ray Reddick returns with gut-punching new single Drunk As It Takes

Bowling for Soup frontman, Jaret Ray Reddick, has released a new single and video from his debut country album, Just Woke Up.
The latest single from the critically acclaimed debut is soulful, gut-punch of lost love, Drunk As It Takes, featuring Frank Turner, while the video stars musician and actor, Thomas Ian Nicholas (American Pie, Rookie Of The Year).

Jaret said he wrote Drunk as it Takes 13 years ago with the hope someone else would make it a huge hit but that it didn’t happen.

Jaret explained: “Instead, the song sat there in a pile of songs destined only to be heard by me every few years, and no one else…ever.

“Then the pandemic afforded me the time to finally make the country album I have been wanting to make for many years, and there was this song, and it fit the vibe. I can’t express how blessed I feel to have Frank Turner guest on this recording. He is easily my favourite artist of the last 15 or so years. Then Thomas Ian Nicholas agreed to be in the video. Suddenly, there is a visual representation of the pain portrayed in the song. I have awesome friends”

Frank Turner added: “Getting to work with Jaret in any fashion is a privilege. Over our lockdown chats we established that, like most songwriters, we are at heart country music fans. So singing on a proper country song was a joy and a privilege.”

Thomas Ian Nicholas said: “Jaret’s whole album is so good. I jumped at the chance to be a part of the music video. I think we really encapsulated the melancholy vibes of the song.”

Drunk As It Takes follows on from previous singles Songs About Texas and One Of The Good Ones.

Jaret Ray Reddick is back in the UK next month to play his first headline country shows this side of the Atlantic, with a date at London’s Boston Music Room on Tuesday, 6th December and a show at The Asylum in Birmingham on Wednesday, 7th.

Support on these dates will be provided by UK country duo Gasoline and Matches, and Thomas Ian Nicholas and his band.

Tickets are available now from AXSTicketweb and AEG Presents.
