Warwickshire’s folk siren, Elllie Gowers intimate UK tour in support of her haunting debut album, Dwelling by the Weir starts this week.
Dwelling by the Weir is a meditation on the nature of belonging, love, loss, nostalgia, and home.
Taken from the old Saxon meaning of Ellie’s hometown, Warwick, Dwelling by the Weir is a collection of songs inspired by the rich history of her home county.
When the pandemic forced us all to go on more daily walks than we’ve ever been on in our lives, Ellie took it as an opportunity to look into the stories, history, and tales of people from Warwickshire.
From women navigating the waterways, and ecological devastation to communities coming together, Ellie travelled to the sleepiest of hamlets and the busiest of market towns to paint a fascinating picture of the county she had grown up in.
Inspired by the likes of Joni Mitchell, Nick Drake, and Laura Marling, Ellie’s songs, are at times sensitive and tender, as they can be fiery and dark. If you’re a fan of modern folk she is someone you need to check out.
