I’m still not entirely sure this isn’t a delusion of my own broken psyche, but Acclaim (yes, that Acclaim) and Swedish indie studio, Elden Pixels, have announced the release date for The Prisoning: Fletcher’s Quest, which is headed to the Switch and Steam in February.
To celebrate today’s announcement, Acclaim has released a mind-melting new gameplay trailer which sees Fletcher navigate the hazard-filled recesses of his mental prison, go toe-to-toe with towering bosses, and blast his way through more emotional baggage than you can stuff into a ten-gallon hat.
Created by the team behind Alwa’s Legacy and A Void Hope, The Prisoning tells a relatable tale for anyone in the games industry, including press, of Fletcher Howie Jr, A developer in the midst of a full-blown mental breakdown while crunching close to release. Trapped inside his own subconscious and forced to confront his fears and anxieties, Fletcher must escape a madcap wonderland of his own creation in this comedic adventure that’s equal parts Mega Man and Metroidvania.
Help Fletcher Howie Jr. escape his mental prison when The Prisoning: Fletcher’s quest launches on Switch and Steam on 10th February, 2026.
