Gioteck Duo Charging Stand review

Gioteck Duo Charging Stand review

The Dual Sense is probably the best controller Sony has ever made. Packed full of technical wizardry, the PS5 pad is the most feature-packed pad PlayStation has ever put out. However, all these bells and whistles come at the cost of it having abysmal battery life.

If you find yourself forever reaching for that charging cable, Gioteck’s new Duo charging stand might be just what you need.

Set up is straightforward. Just plug the charger into the back of a spare USB port in the back of your PS5 (or into the mains with one of the many USB plugs you have kicking around the place), drop your pads onto the dock, and away you go.

Put two pads into the dock after every play session, or switch them when one inevitably runs out of battery during a marathon session, and you never have to worry about plugging your pad into your PS5 to charge it again.

The stand does its job really well. The Pads go into the charging cradle easily, and a handy front light tells you when the unit is on and charging your controller. However, the best part in these power-conscious times is that it turns itself off when the pad is fully charged.

The Duo is made of reasonably high-quality plastic and comes with a selection of faceplates so you can match the dock with the colour of your controllers or PS5. Changing the faceplates is as easy as popping one off and clicking on a new one. It’s a little touch, but a welcome one.

On the whole, the Gioteck Duo Charging Stand, much like everything else Gioteck puts out, is a solid bit of kit that works as advertised at a reasonable price. When talking about something as simple as a charging dock, that is the highest praise I can give it.
