Amiga 500 mini coming next year

Move over SNES mini, the real king of late 80s, early 90s gaming is back in the house as Retro Games has announced the A500 mini will launch in 2022.

Inspired by the 1987 release of the Amiga 500, the A500 mini will feature 25 classic Amiga games including Another World, The Chaos Engine, and Simon the Sorcerer. ( and if there’s a god – Cannon Fodder and Flashback)

What’s more you’ll also be able to load up additional games and firmware using a USB stick. (finally a way to play Sensible Trainspotting again)

In a great twist the A500 Mini will not only emulate the original OCS and Enhanced chip sets from the Amiga 500/600 but also the advanced graphics architecture (AGA) of the Amiga 1200.

Included in the box will be a two button moue and an 8 button gamepad in the same style as the one included with the Amiga CD32. You will also be able to plug in your own PC keyboard as well.

Retro games has announced the first 12 games to be included with the A500 mini with more set to be announced at a later date. they are; Alien Breed 3D, Another World, ATR: All Terrain Racing, Battle Chess, Cadaver, Kick Off 2, Pinball Dreams, Simon The Sorcerer, Speedball 2: Brutal Deluxe, The Chaos Engine, Worms: The Director’s Cut, and Zool: Ninja Of The ”Nth” Dimension.

“In this initial mini version of The A500, we have created what we believe gaming fans will love, and will see as the evolution of mini games consoles”, said Paul Andrews, Managing Director at Retro Games.

“Retro Games have developed a truly unique product”, said Debbie Bestwick MBE, CEO at Team 17, ” I’m very excited to have our classic games represented in all their original glory”.

The A500 Mini is scheduled for launch in early 2022 with a suggested retail price of GBP£119.99/ EUR€129.99/ USD$139.99/ AUD$199.99
