Injustice 2 Announced, Trailer, New Mobile Challenge

After an image of a poster pretty much confirmed the inevitable news yesterday, Warner Bros. have let us know that Injustice 2 is finally happening and is currently in development at NetherRealm Studios for PS4 and Xbox One (no word of a PC version as yet, but we’ll update if WB get back to us)

Continuing the story introduced in Injustice: Gods Among Us, Bats and his allies work towards putting the pieces of society back together while struggling against those who want to restore Superman’s regime.  In the midst of the chaos, a new threat appears that will put Earth’s very existence at risk.  Players can choose from what is promised to be the biggest DC roster ever offered in a fighting game, featuring returning heroes such as Batman, Superman and Aquaman as well as new heroes and villains, like Supergirl and new villains Atrocitus and Gorilla Grodd, with more to be confirmed  Battles will take place across arenas that have evolved in scale, and span across iconic locations such as Metropolis, Gotham City and Atlantis.

It appears that Injustice 2 will also feature RPG-like elements, and Creative Director Ed Boon has stated that NetherRealm are introducing new features that will allow players to customise and level up their favourite DC superheroes and villains, adding gear to their characters (and other equipable items in a similar manner to the mobile version of the original game) which will enable them to customise not only how their characters look, but how they fight as well.

To celebrate the announcement of Injustice 2, new Injustice 2 versions of Superman and Aquaman have been added to the mobile verison, which can be unlocked through the in-game Challenge Modes.

Check out the announcement trailer below.

Injustice 2 will be coming to PS4, Xbox One (and maybe NX and PC) in 2017.
