The latest Challenge Stage for the iOS version of Injustice: Gods Among Us is a blast from the past. While Android users are being offered Regime Raven for February, whose Challenge Stage walkthrough can be read here, Batgirl and the Arkham Origins Batman have been revived for iPad and iPhone players. DC/NetherRealms was wise to reanimate this duo, as Arkham Origins Batman is one of the most dominant cards in the game. His Invisible Predator ability allows him to begin matches with two power bars. If Batgirl joins him, then he can instantly deliver a unblockable move. This team can be capped off with a number of worthy support characters, such as the Killing Joke Joker, who refills his team’s health when he is knocked out, or Red Son Wonder Woman to add power generation to the team.
Some players may gawk at the huge price tag in Arkham Origins Batman’s utility belt (375,000 credits), but he is well worth the cost. His stats and hulking presence are matched only by the Kryptonians in the game. Furthermore, when this version of Batman was first introduced to iOS devices, he was removed from the Injustice shop far too quickly. As a result, many players were unable to purchase him, and only a select few could throw around his weight.
Please note that the new characters WASDuk broke the news about yesterday will come in future Challenge Stages beginning in March. Read about the upcoming Darkseid, Containment Doomsday, Boss Solomon Grundy, and 600 Wonder Woman here.
Batgirl Challenge Stage Walkthrough
As with any Challenge Stage, players will receive the above announcement and 25 tokens to use for matches. The 25 tokens will get players through the first two rounds, but players must also be equipped with select card-fighters to compete in the 5 battle stages.
Battle 1: Only Bronze Characters Can Be On Your Team
The first round of fights requires you to only use Bronze Characters. As a result, WASDuk has compiled a strategy guide to help you assemble the best Bronze teams in the game, which can be read here. The first play-through is quite simple, but the subsequent additional play throughs, especially the final Nightmare rounds, will require more complex teams to be assembled. As a result, consider your team’s passive abilities carefully. Bronze Green Arrow, Nightwing, and Lex all drain power from enemies with their level 1 special attacks. Flash gets a 15% speed bonus to attacks for every level 1 special he uses (it maxes at 3 uses, or at 45%). Sinestro gets 15% power generation every time an opponent tags out against him (no limit). Furthermore, Andrew Ryan Singer from the Facebook group iOS Injustice Players points out that a great team can also contain the New 52 version of the Flash (only available via Bronze Booster Packs or through the console) because he adds 5% power generation.
Battle 2: Nightwing Must be On Your Team
The loop-hole in this requirement is that players can add Gold card-fighters to Nightwing’s team. The best support cards in the game are the Red Son characters, who will absolutely steam-roll the opponents in this round. However, if players want a Gotham theme, then Batgirl (IF you completed her Challenge Stage before) and any of the Batman card-fighters can be added. For fans of the Teen Titans, team Nightwing with Regime Cyborg and Regime Raven in order to GO!
Battle 3: Only Silver or Bronze Characters Can Be On Your Team
Gold card-fighters are not allowed to be used here, so form your teams carefully. Last week’s Tuesday’s Trinity revealed a life-saving trick with Green Arrow’s Freeze Arrow ability. If players find themselves getting pummeled, then add Green Arrow to your team. His level 1 attack can be used to ice your foe. Once you render the foe immobile, do not strike him or her. Instead, simply wait while your team’s power maxes out. Once every member’s bars are full, unleash a series of devastating unblockables.
Battle 4: The Joker Must Be On Your Team
In DC comic’s lore, the Joker was responsible for paralyzing Batgirl (aka Barbara Gordon) and she subsequently became Oracle. A common team consisting of the Insurgency Joker and two other versions of Harley will do fine in the first play through of this round. In the final Nightmare play through though, consider using a nearly unstoppable team in Doomsday, Red Son Wonder Woman, and the Killing Joke Joker. Doomsday’s Hero Killer ability refills 50% of his health for every knock-out, Red Son Wonder Woman will add 15% power generation with Red Son Power, and the Killing Joke Joker can be sacrificed to get you out of any contingently sticky situations.
Battle 5: Deathstroke Must Be On Your Team
There are three versions of Deathstroke to select from, but the Red Son Deathstroke is fantastically dominant. His level 2 special attack, called Contract Killer, deals ungodly amounts of damage. Therefore, a team composed of multiple Red Son cards is ideal, as the passive abilities of Red Son cards double for every other Red Son card on the team. Pair him with Red Son Superman to get a 75% damage boost, a 15% speed boost from Deathstroke, and either Red Son Wonder Woman or Red Son Solomon Grundy to gain power generation or health.
Last, be sure to note that the original Batgirl Challenge stage did not offer multiple play throughs. The final battle in the Nightmare Stage now has been upgraded to having two fighters. Rather than facing Batgirl alone, she will be joined by Arkham Origins Batman. This duo will begin the match with four power bars between them, so be sure to check yourself lest you wreck yourself, son. Once you take down the new dynamic duo, then Batgirl will be added to both your deck as well as to your Injustice shop.
