Philip Seymour Hoffman found dead at home

Yesterday afternoon the film world was stunned to learn of the death of Philip Seymour Hoffman.

The award winning Hoffman, most recently involved in filming for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Parts 1 & 2, was found at his apartment in New York apparently having suffered a drugs overdose. He was declared dead at the scene. Coincidentally the news of his death broke just twenty four hours after his agent had publicly denied hoax rumours that the actor was dead.

Last year Hoffman spoke publicly of his continuous battle with alcohol and drug addiction but seemed to be confident that he was moving on in a positive way. Since yesterday tributes have been pouring in from actors and fans alike. Those of you in the UK can watch/read some of those tributes here, courtesy of the BBC.

Hoffman is survived by his partner and three children.
